In 1982, The American Made Show, (formerly the Buyers Market of American Craft) established itself as the only national wholesale marketplace for professional studio artists residing in the United States and Canada.
The event, unique among gift trade shows, as all works on display are exclusively designed and studio-made by artists in the United States and Canada – no imports or mass-manufactured products permitted.
Retailers appreciate the value and distinctive quality handcrafted artist-made products bring to their stores and share our mission of supporting the shop local and handmade economy. In 2016, founder Wendy Rosen took the trade show online where more professional studio artists and more fine retailers would meet for business.

Build Personal Relationships
Relationships built with retailers sustain many artists all year long. Through wholesaling, the artists are able to spend more time in the studio and less time on the road. For retailers, relationships built with artists provide the long-term benefits of a true partnership, including exclusivity, restock product exchanges, and more.
A decade ago art and fine craft galleries were the most prominent category. Today, Main Street independent retailers, jewelry stores, book stores, boutiques and home décor stores seek out American Made products to create a sense of uniqueness to their retail concepts.
Well-known e-retailers like The Artful Home, Uncommon Goods, Una Ala Volta, The Grommet, Fab.com, Signals, Sundance carry studio works. Museum stores like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, the National Gallery, and many of the Smithsonian Institute gift shops rely on us to fill their needs. The art galleries of Universities, Guilds and Arts Institutions find that quality handmade products make a perfect complement to their traveling exhibitions. Art-to-wear clothing boutiques and jewelry stores have realized that crossing over into “wearable art” is a way to draw customers in more frequently.
Through our networking and advocacy efforts gift concessions at zoos, aquariums, national parks and amusement parks have increased their purchases of American Made. Interior designers and architects have always partnered with studio artists, but with retail showrooms they now stock mid-priced works to draw new potential design clients.
