Bobbi Jo Forte: When people walk into Living Eden often their first response is “wow, you can feel the love”. Meaning, they say they can tell the products are being made with more care and love. Customers constantly comment on the qualify and affordability.
Describe your merchandise mix.
Bobbi Jo Forte: Living Eden offers a large selection of Made in America clothing, jewelry, gift items, accessories and yarn.
Has your customer base evolved and changed the merchandising focus of your store?
Bobbi Jo Forte: Yes, we started with a greater selection of home decor, quilts, pottery, etc. We have found that our customers are most interested in clothing, jewelry, and knitting products.
Do you hold annual events and exhibitions?
Bobbi Jo Forte: We would love to start hosting exhibitor events. This is a goal for year 3. We do Facebook promotions regularly and participate in Small Business Saturday.
Are you engaging your customers in a conversation about the Shop Local/ American Made movement?
Bobbi Jo Forte: On a daily basis we talk to customers about the importance of buying American Made and how shopping local truly helps our communities thrive.
Is carrying American made important to you and your customer base?
Bobbi Jo Forte: Yes. We have noticed an increase in demand for American Made goods. People are aware of the economic and environmental consequences of importing everything.
How do most of your customers find you?
Bobbi Jo Forte: We get a lot of traffic from word-of-mouth and social media and because of our great selection of products we experience a lot of return business.
What makes your store stand out from other retailers in your area?
Bobbi Jo Forte: Living Eden stands out because of our size and style. We have a large store and our style is very “Anthropologie.” It appeals to many demographics.

What would you say is your key to longevity?
Bobbi Jo Forte: Our key to longevity is offering products that people need and can afford. People need clothing, they need to give gifts, and they need to be able to afford it all.
