The Rosen Group is an independent, family-owned and -operated small business that provides art business and marketing assistance to artists, galleries, collectors, museums and arts organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada. Founded in 1981, the company has grown to become recognized as a strong partner in the economic development of creative communities.
Our founder and president, Wendy Rosen, has been a major force in developing American crafts into an industry. Producer of the American Made Show (formerly Buyers Market of American Craft), publisher of NICHE magazine, author of Crafting as a Business and faculty member of the nonprofit Arts Business Institute, Wendy has spent over three decades teaching and mentoring thousands of artists on how to develop their work, attract galleries and market their work to top galleries and luxury retailers across the US and Canada.
In addition to producing the American Made Show, The Rosen Group publishes NICHE Magazine and provides funding support for the nonprofit Arts Business Institute and the American Made Alliance trade association.
Published by The Rosen Group, NICHE magazine was founded for the purpose of connecting art galleries and craft retailers with the finest wholesale crafts, handmade gifts and decorative art objects made in artist studios throughout the United States and Canada.
NICHE is the only magazine published exclusively for craft art galleries, main street stores and small retail businesses that daily fight for survival against big box retailers. These progressive, small business retailers are the pioneers of urban revitalization and growth for main streets in small towns throughout America.
Sponsored by NICHE magazine, the NICHE Awards program began in 1989 to celebrate excellence and innovation in American and Canadian fine craft. Artists are recognized in both professional and student divisions. The NICHE Awards ceremony is held each January at the Washington Convention Center in Washington DC, in conjunction with the American Made Show.
Nearly 2,000 entries are received each year from professional and student craft artists all across the U.S. and Canada. Each year, a prestigious panel of jurors is selected by the editors of NICHE magazine to judge the entries. Jurors include gallery owners, guild and museum directors, curators, craft industry experts and arts advocates.
